Nonsense Advertising

Perhaps, I criticize ads a little more since it was my major. I don't claim to be an Advertising or Marketing genius and I don't even work in the industry, but it's almost common sense that your message, slogan or tagline needs to make sense or stand for something. And not just something, something that people can relate to your business.

On my way home tonight, I saw a billboard for a bank. The only thing on the board was text. It said, "We believe in Santa. But we believe in you more." (Or something very close to that.) I'm grasping at things that I want my bank to believe in me about. I guess if I'm trying to get a loan or something, I hope they can look past perhaps what ever about my financial status may be a hindrance. But overall, I just don't get it.

Maybe one of you can enlighten me or confirm that it's a lame ad for a bank. If you have a lame/questionable ad, please share! I know I heard something wacko on the radio recently as well; I just can't recall it.

"I love your blogs, they always make me think and a lot of times chuckle. I agree with you, I don't give a shit whether my back believes in, has confidence in, or is proud of me. I would; however, appreciate it if they would send someone to clean my house. Can I arrange that?"
